六经皆史，史皆六经，故曰碑刻皆史。这里的每一块铭刻文字，或因景题记，或以事而告，或为隽永散文，或为官样文章，皆为有关地方的人文事件，是十分珍贵的乡邦文献、坊巷旧志和人文档案。
Six Confucian Classics are records of ancient China’s history and ancient China’s history are all recorded in Six Confucian Classics. Therefore, engraved inscriptions on steles are regarded as records of history. Related to cultural events of certain places, all the steles here are precious historical documents, annals of old lanes and streets, and cultural archives of the locality.
