As one of the Five Classics, this book talks about China’s remote past. More clearly put, it records edicts of those lords from King Yao and Shun to kings of the Eastern Zhou dynasty as well as dialogs between such lords and their ministers. As 3 steles were lost, there are only 7 ones in sound condition. Besides, the Minister of the Southern Song dynasty Qin Hui’s note on the last stele has become illegible after long time.
