In 1798, Wu Housheng engraved these inscriptions on 10 steles upon Ruan Yuan’s order. Then these steles were put at Hangzhou Prefectural School. It’s a pity that only the last 5 steles are still extant. Especially, the last stele is carved Ruan Yuan’s note. The inscriptions belonged to the pre-Qin era and thus were given this name. Now some rubbings are preserved at the Palace Museum, Beijing.
